Elderwerks specializes in assisting older adults, seniors, and families with senior living coordination, advocacy, and education. We are currently hiring a Community Program Coordinator.  

Position Summary:

The Community Program Coordinator oversees the volunteers, community education scheduling, special events, marketing, and promotion of Elderwerks through community engagement, community education, business development, and support of the Center and team.
Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Manage the Palatine Center special events.
  • Assist with fundraising.
  • Answer incoming calls.
  • Manages volunteers - maintain a proper list, schedule, and manage volunteer tasks.
  • Maintain the office calendar, schedule meetings, build and promote consumer events, support all events at the Center, and whatever else is needed to efficiently run the Center.
  • Assist with guests and walk-ins as needed.
  • Take photos and videos for social media and Elderwerks records.
  • Manage presentations at the Center and virtually. Help set up, manage, and follow up.
  • Deliver MASS (Make a Senior Smile) cards and other items on Elderwerks behalf.
  • Assist with Continuing Education as needed including onsite at Elderwerks, scheduling, and implementation of CEs. 
  • Manage consumer programs at the Center and externally.
  • Document, promote, and distribute information.
  • Help manage webinars.
  • Build, manage, and email the Friends and Family newsletter.
  • Promoted events in emails to chambers, social media, and online free sites. Work with the social media specialist to promote.
  • Host webinars and Teams meetings live on Facebook and YouTube.
  • Provide outreach as needed to local organizations.
  • Help keep the Center clean and sanitized after events.
  • Reaches across all levels and departments to identify what makes Elderwerks unique and communicates it to the public.
  • Represents Elderwerks at networking events and other events as needed. 
  • Enter all meetings, data, and notes in the CMT.
  • Create a respectful reputation representing Elderwerks as a not-for-profit.
  • Advances the mission and goals of Elderwerks through planning, developing, implementing, and organizing special events, including community outreach programs, that will positively influence public opinion and promote Elderwerks.
  • Help create and deliver innovative marketing campaigns.
  • Passes inquiries from community members and other interested parties to Strategy Director for distribution to the Advisors.
  • Creates unified brand identity to maintain, enhance and solidify the positive reputation of Elderwerks and drive brand recognition and growth.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, or related software.
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 45 words per minute.
  • Must be detailed oriented and a good communicator.
  • Able to problem solve.
  • Ability to meet multiple demands and diverse needs in fast-paced, changing environments.
  • Able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work extremely well as part of a team.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent persuasion and negotiation skills, and ability to build rapport.
  • Strong analytical skills partnered with a creative mind.
  • Ability to evaluate the cost of a program and determine the relative benefits for the organization.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism.
  • Must be proficient in Apple iPhones and iPads.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Activities, Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field or 
  • At least three years of work in Community Relations, Activities, or Marketing preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, or kneel to set up trade show booths.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to uphold the stress of traveling both locally and across the state.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or driving.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle.
