Jennifer Prell Receives the Palatine Chamber Community Organization of the Year Award 2020
Thursday February 25, 2021 - Jennifer Prell
The Palatine Chamber of Commerce recognized Elderwerks Educational Service with an award celebrating Elderwerks accomplishments through 2020. Jennifer Prell is seen receiving the Palatine Chamber Community Organization of the Year Award 2020 by Carol Brandt of Brandt Financial Concepts.
Elderwerks worked to build new programs to support older adults and seniors throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic. They never closed and were available to seniors and their families to answer questions, provide information, referrals and guidance on the aging topics inquired about.
Some programs Elderwerks created in 2020:
- Support groups and onsite counseling provided by Barrington Behavioral Health & Wellness.
- Masks for Seniors - Cloth masks made by local community members are distributed for free to older adults and seniors throughout northern Illinois.
- Make a Senior Smile - Cards, poems, letters, and art are created by local children and adults and then distributed to isolated and lonely seniors throughout Illinois.
- Virtual education - Elderwerks presented educational seminars online for community members and professionals.
- Elderwerks Virtual Senior Fair - 2 days, 23 online aging seminars for anyone who planned on aging well.
These are just some of the programs in place to help the local community. Elderwerks is planning a week-long Expo with a music theme the second week of August. The Expo will be educational, fun, interactive, and prizes may be won.
