When you walk into Brookdale Urbana, you will find our staff is warm and our residents are happy. We offer 97 apartments with a variety of options to suit the needs of each individual. All of our apartments include a kitchenette, a fully handicap-accessible private bathroom, individually-controlled heating and cooling units in every room, advanced basic cable, as well as an emergency response system for each resident.
Carle Hospital and Presence Hospital are both less than eight miles away, and regardless of your hospital affiliation, we have both Carle Clinic and Christie Clinic within blocks of our community. Our bus takes residents to doctor appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays for their convenience.
Housekeepers come in weekly to clean your apartment and change out your linens so that you can take time to enjoy activities and events in the community. If you enjoy walking and scenic views, Meadowbrook Park features hard and soft surface trails, farmstead, a tall grass prairie and the Timpone Ornamental Tree Grove.
Group common areas consist of our family room, fireplace room and a library. Genesis Rehab is located on-site for any therapy needs including physical, occupational and speech therapy. Runs with Scissors, our beauty shop located on the main floor, has two experienced and friendly stylists to serve the needs of our residents.
An Engaging and Active Lifestyle
Our Life Enrichment Director has designed an outstanding activities program that includes a variety of daily activities that meet the unique interests of each individual.
Our residents enjoy regular off-site excursions such as outings to museums, fishing trips, petting zoos, restaurants and theaters. To help keep their minds and bodies fit, residents like to attend our regular educational seminars, exercise classes and church services.
We also offer plenty of opportunities to socialize. For game lovers, we have avid players of bingo, hangman, crazy poker, trivia and a number of card and board games.
Happy hours and various socials are very popular and well-attended by our residents. Every month, there is a family night scheduled that includes entertainment and a delicious menu. Our staff always encourages family and friends to join in the fun.
Fine Dining
Substantial investments in Brookdale’s culinary program and staffing allow us to provide mealtime experiences that set our communities apart from the competition. From our Culinary Arts Training for chefs, to select seasonings and bakery options, we have created one of the industry’s leading dining organizations.
Our fine dining experience is prepared by a trained chef and receives nutritional support and recommendations from a registered dietician.
Three restaurant-style meals are served each day in the group dining room and snacks are provided throughout the day. We continue to meet the nutritional needs of residents with dining choices that offer satisfying entrees, while meeting dietary requirements. Each meal offers a selection of delicious choices, sensational service and we always accommodate special restrictions and requests.
To help alleviate any confusion or added stress, we keep mealtimes very routine for our Memory Care community. Residents all sit together at the same time and same table each day. Meals are served on colorful plates and tablecloths so that they can more easily distinguish their food. We also provide easy-to-eat snacks between meals, helping to ensure these residents get the nutrition and calorie count they need.
Partnering with the Local Neighborhood Community
Our retirement community hosts events several times throughout the year to get local healthcare providers and residents to learn more about the services we provide. These include open houses, health fairs and our “Dine and Dash” program, just to name a few. We invite other senior communities to come in for our services and entertainment and also reach out to the local community in learning how we can assist seniors and offer our programs and resources to those who need them.
