Burgess Square provides care to you and your family the right way, the way you would expect. Our unique position as a family run, stand-alone center gives us the ability to take action on what’s right for our patients, residents, families, and staff, today; not needing to wait until tomorrow. You can find peace of mind knowing that the future owner operators of Burgess Square work side by side with our staff to meet your loved one’s needs everyday.
Our successful administrative team has over 50 years combined experience in the business of caring. We staff 6 licensed nursing administrators full time. Our rehab director has nearly a decade of experience in acute and sub-acute rehab. No other facility can come near this level of distinction.
Burgess Square considers everyone to be part of an extended family. This family atmosphere extends to meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our residents with Alzheimer's and Dementia by adhering to the highest standard of care.
Restorative nursing is the link between therapy and nursing aimed at maintaining optimal physical, mental and psychosocial functioning. A restorative plan of care is formulated and implemented to improve or maintain optimal wellness and the functional potential of each resident. Burgess Square’s integrated restorative program involves everyone. Although the restorative program is coordinated by our nursing department, each staff member is part of the interdisciplinary team.

LON not LOS
In line with our principals we focus on our patient’s length of need for rehabilitation, not their length of stay. Business interests can conflict with patient interests. Our mission is to put people first; therefore we focus on what is best for them. We put patients first.
Independently Operated
As a single, stand-alone facility, we can proactively respond to the ever-changing dynamics in health care.
Family Business
We are a family run business with day-to-day hands-on management. This keeps everyone aware of and accountable for modeling our mission.
Burgess Healthcare Center was founded by Monty L. Miller and Jacqueline L. Mason in 1984, in dedication to the memory of their great grandmother, Mrs. W. Burgess Nall. Mr. Miller and his aunt, the late Jacqueline L. Mason, have owned and operated Burgess Square as a family endeavor since its inception. This family commitment was born out of their love and dedication to caring for the elderly. The family atmosphere at Burgess Square is evident in the longevity of its staff, some of whom have worked at the facility for over 20 years. Their philosophy of hard work, dedication and fairness to others is the center’s foundation for providing care.
The Burgess Square family lost Ms. Mason to illness in 2008. Wanting to assure that the legacy of caring would continue, Ms. Mason and Mr. Miller have chosen a leadership team that reflects the values and traditions upon which Burgess was founded.
They recruited the administrative team of John Vrba, Anthony Schreiber, and Mike Hensley who came to Burgess in 2008 with a proven record of success in the business of caring. This combination of experience and the stand-alone nature of the facility provide Burgess Square with the ability to implement changes in terms of cutting edge technology and best practices in order to provide state-of-the-art care without the red tape associated with larger organizations. This enhanced efficiency allows the center to provide unprecedented physical and emotional care to its patients and residents.
