Brain Activities

Written by Paige Hansen

Keeping your brain active is a natural activity to adapt when starting the aging process. Here are some ways to ensure your brain stays active and even improve your mental processes. There are both life style changes and exercises that benefit your brain.

Some life style changes you can make are improving your diet, improving your blood pressure, and not abusing substances such as tobacco and alcohol. A study conducted by Harvard Medical School says that people who eat a balanced diet that contains fruits, veggies, fish, nuts, and plant proteins are less likely to develop cognitive impairment and also dementia. Blood pressure can be a risk that leads to cognitive decay. Some ways you can avoid high blood pressure by exercising regularly and eating right.

Exercising your brain is a large part of keeping your brain active. There are applications you can download on your electronic device, crosswords, Sudoku, and even just doing a puzzle. Popular free apps to download are Lumosity, 4 Pics 1 Word, Elevate, Peak, and many more. These games offer language and numerical challenges to get your brain thinking critically.

It is never too early to be exercising your brain and keeping up your health. Keeping your brain active is important at any age and always carries the same benefits.
